Luego de 8 años de trayectoria, Somvazio se despidio de su audiencia en un ultimo evento el pasado Sabado 8 de octubre en JDs Cafe Teatro. Su pagina oficial en FB nos deja la siguiente nota.

“Gracias a los que se disfrutaron nuestro ultimo evento con nosotros, fue uno super especial de mucha emoción de aquí pa ya’ y de allá pa ca’. Gracias a todos los que nos apoyaron desde un principio, hasta un final. (AtrumOrbis, Habish, Wendel por su ayuda en sonido (afuera o studio), Icaro Azul, Logo Beat, Carlos Jimenez (por tirarse encima este ultimo gig), nuestra familia, Jorge Castro (por su eterna ayuda) y a todos ustedes por hacer que nuestra musica tenga sentido.

Habiendo tenido la oportunidad de compartir con la banda en varios eventos dentro y fuera de la tarima quiero cerrar compartiendo una serie de imagenes que sirven de capsula para aquellos Adictos al tiempo que han vivido siguiendo la gota.

To tell you the truth I was a bit scared to use this location (Old Lighthouse ruins @ Aguadilla) it has been greatly misused an cliched in the area from weddings to reggaeton to merengue at one point or another it has been used. However I did my assignment and found some angles that help me achieve a distinct look here. Just trying to focus on the textures of the structure not the structure itself. I know sounds complicated.

We broke ice with a couple of music jokes, by the way there’s always an internal joke among bandmates you just have to ask and they tell you a story or two it just happens.

During the shoot we manage to cover two locations the second one was an abandoned road somewhere along the highway from Aguadilla to san juan wish i had gps on cam so i can show you cool spot but got a bit of a garbage problem nevertheless we workout something to create just enough space for the shoot which was fairly quick I may add.

I was driving around Ramey Base to drop some mail. When I got close to the post office I saw this contest taking place in the skate park. I figured why not take some shots of the riders since i had the camera in my car. Long story short I had a great time and met cool people they even invited me to a downhill skateboard challenge tomorrow in Quebradillas. I’ll try to go if I make it ill surely post.

Don Vitorio passed away today at 11:30am peacefully in his house with the company of his family and friends. He was soon to be 102 years old next week. However He lived enough to see his family grow with a solid bond and planted in them the seed of respect and honor for his fellow man and his country which he hold dear to his heart.

May he rest in peace

I was hired by Punta Borinquen Golf Club through my friend Luis from Adnet Group to do a series of stills to showcase the golf club’s attributes for their new upcoming website.

I was really amazed at the astonishing view this golf course has. First of all it sits on top of a cliff and on a sunny day you can view as far as Desecheo island including the whole Aguadilla coast providing a nice overview of the best surfing beaches in the area. Did I mention that there is a lighthouse beside the course. How cool is that !

We always hear about ghost stories and never think they are real because they live in an imaginary and unreachable world, until we find places in our realm that function as a crossroad for reality and fiction.

After a late lunch at Machete Rojo in Aguadilla. I started photographing some stray horses that were behind the establishment. Little did i know that the owner of the horses was around until I heard him calling me -”Mira tu eres fotografo?” asking me if i was a photographer I said sure “How are you doing?”. Then he presented himself -”Mi nombre es Celestino” my name is Celestino. He told me that he had recently bought those horses to do a improvised carriage by sawing in half an old car that he has a really old and broken down Toyota i think it was. He intended to use the Toyota’s chassis as a frame for the carriage so it can be pulled by the horses.

However the biggest surprise of this encounter unfolded when he invited me to enter his humble wooden house. As I entered the first thing i saw was that the walls were covered with newspapers. For a second i thought that he was using the newspapers to cover the wooden shapes of his house but as i looked closer i could see that Don Celestino has been meticulously collecting the history of the sport of marathon running in the island. It was really impressive to see all his medals, certificates, commendations and trophies alongside the press clippings. He told stories about the San Blas Marathon one the of the hardest and most unforgiving marathons on the island He told me that the distance to be covered in the San Blas marathon was like going from Aguadilla to Hormigueros in a straight line using #2 Road (that’s approximately a 1hr drive). I opened my eyes really big at that point. He also shared stories and accounts of his fellow marathon runners, legends like Pan-american marathon medallist Peco Gonzalez among others.

By the end of the conversation I asked him how does he stay in shape at his age. He told me that he hasn’t stopped running and that he keeps active running in various marathons across the island and training for them all year long. Celestino even went as far as to show me one of his training secrets for endurance and boost. To make his point clear he tied a tire to a rope and the rope to his waist at that time i was a bit concerned that the old man was going to hurt himself but he knew what he was doing from the get go. This old man is tougher and more resistant than anyone i know to date. And for the looks of it this tiny and skinny old man can out run even death any day for sure.
