It is hard to put in words my frustration with the online experience in SL. Most of the words I can thin right now might be to offensive for some readers. It turns out that I don’t have enough bandwidth to properly engage in voice chat at home. My home computer (Imac / Mac-Intel processor) is o.k. it has the power to carry the game but tweaking needs to be done in order to achieve best results. Last week I tried to tweak the settings in SL with the help of prof. Pine. First we tried the voice chat properties, then headphones and mics we tried approximately 3 possible configurations but still were unable to carry a conversation properly. The problem Is that when I reply my voice gets choppy like a broken transmission. This truncates my ability to respond during reunions. I feel like a mute person trying to communicate only instead of sign language I have to become a keyboard cowboy and use my typing skills to the max typing as fast as i can no make relevant points during conversation. I can only imagine how annoying this would be to my peers. I’ve putting hours of my personal time to better my experience and become a productive member in discussions. However technology is not on my side this time. Its like a bad dance going forward and backward until you are dizzy, tired and annoyed.
